----- Original Message ----- From: Miriam Greif - mgreif@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: projects I have been following the discussion on the oral bagrut and the projects... The whole dispute with the Irgun was about the literature programme and the hots. Projects have been running for 10 years now. All of a sudden it seems that someone said: "While we're at it, we may as well bring in the projects as well".. Why? I have done projects with pupils at all levels for many many years. We started doing projects 30 years ago when it wasn't even a requirement. When done properly both the teachers and the pupils enjoy them immensely. For some pupils it is the only opportunity they have to produce something of their own. Kids in my etgar classes did projects and enjoyed them. One of my pupils said to me: "This is sooo interesting. Why do they always treat us as though we don't know anything." It was never more work than correcting ongoing work and compositions. The irgun has no idea what this is about. If you look at the letters written by Ran Erez, he obviously thinks that the projects were invented last year. For sure he doesn't know that the projects have been around for ten years (and the literature even more than that...).
