protesting ----- Original Message ----- From: Sharon Tzur - sharontzu5@xxxxxxx Subject: protesting Dear Etniers: Judy Steiner made clear today in a meeting that the decision about going ahead with the oral testing as usual (meaning that even students who don't have projects as a result of teacher sanctions will get a zero in that part of the exam) was a decision apparently made higher up. Thus, our protest should be directed to Gideon Saar and Dr. Shoshani. (my words - not Judy's) I have posted a Hebrew letter which you should be able to download by clicking the following link: http://schools.amit.org.il/teacher/web/project/project.asp?codeclient=1527&codesubweb=6526&id=21258&Modul=40 When you click on the link, you'll get a page with the fax numbers of Gideon Saar and Dr. Shoshani. You'll also see in the lower left "attached files" with a little Word icon next to "protest letter". You can print out the letter, add your address at the beginning, sign at the end, and then fax. I urge teachers to send in this letter of protest. It is true that in many schools where teachers are on sanction, students will be coming in with projects (for many reasons... some schools did projects in 10th grade - other teachers are implementing the sanctions on a partial basis, etc.) However, there might be schools where students don't have projects due to sanctions, and they shouldn't be punished. Besides, there is a principal at stake here. The Ministry should not fight teacher sanctions by penalizing their students. Furthermore, this letter is a good way to raise the issue of g'mul for doing projects. (It makes mention of the Civics teacher's project).
