I totally agree with Veronica's approach and do the same in my
classes when using the lyrics project. In addition, you'll find that
when the students get to the analysis, they realize that we were
correct in insisting on songs with content and a meaningful message.

About the lyrics project I too have used the lyrics project. There is no problem as long as the teacher makes sure that (s)he makes it clear that the song must be meaningful, with a message. I, as the teacher, have to okay each song and I do NOT allow superficial songs to be used.
