Additionally, there's usually no toilet paper nor soap in the students'
restrooms. There's no cold water fountain nor are pupils allowed to use the
cooler for hot water. The air conditioner, if there is one, either doesn't
work or gets freezing cold. Some classrooms get strong afternoon sun. Or
classes may be held in uncomfortable caravans. Will the guard be there for
the full day? Pity the first graders who are holding it in until they get
home. And if lunch is offered, it often isn't quality, nutritionally
satisfying food, so the students are starving as well. Students and teachers
should have the option of going home for lunch, which my mother used to do
when she was growing up in NYC (some 90 years ago), and then go back for
afternoon classes. The physical conditions of colleges are usually up to
par, so why can't schools offer decent facilities for pupils (and
teachers)?!
