Dear Phyllis

Firstly I adore Roger McGough and have taught him several times in class.

Secondly of course it is totally ridiculous for someone to say that your
poem is not valid.I have visited countless sites on the internet where all
kinds of stuff is posted and nobody would say that the work of someone else
is 'not a poem" we can only say if we like or don't like someone's work.
It's utterly ridiculous to say such a thing.

Thirdly all works are open to literary interpretation. I studied Comparative
Lit at MA level and I can assure you that we were allowed to state anything
we wanted so long as we could uphold and defend our opinions through quoting
from the text .

We all know that literature and language are not sciences but Arts and that
everything is subjective.
You are quite entitled to your opinion.

Again we see why the HOTS is making us unhappy
