To clarify things: I teach girls in an Ulpana. The girls are
always hugging one another. I am known to be a warm teacher
always patting on the back; etc. The girls themselves come to
hug ME when they see me in the summertime, and years
after graduation!! However, as a religious woman, if I had to
teach boys, I'd have to be handcuffed!!!! (as we do not touch
those of the opposite sex other than family members, even
to shake hands,) and as a warm person I can not teach
without respectful, acceptable warm contact! :) I DO agree
that teachers must be very careful when teaching pupils of the
opposite sex, for even well-intentioned "touches" could be
misinterpreted or, G-d forbid, used to falsely accuse a
teacher of misconduct in revenge.
