First off, I second Judi's words: "ETNI is simply the greatest..... no
way around it! Thank you David for all your work on our behalf."

I would like to clarify something. Leonie Lachmish wrote, "I mean no
disrespect to teachers who have sadly been in such a position and have
given written homework connected to the tragedy.  I am sure they did
so because they felt their way and believed it might help the healing
process - which it well might, if a pupil chooses to do it."

When I mentioned, "Homework was to write condolence letters to her
parents and family." after Ella Abukasis's death by Kassam, it was
optional and not mandatory and of course in Hebrew! Others choose to
prepare something for our wall of remembrance in Hebrew. Those who did
nothing... that was fine, too. We had students from different grades
(organized by the student council) paying shiva calls during school
hours as well, and that too was voluntary. (Many wanted to go, but
their parents would not have allowed them to go alone without a
teacher as part of a group.) Maybe your school, after speaking with
the family as our principal did, could organize visits to Elad's
family. As an only child, his parents might want to hear input by
Elad's friends who have not yet made a condolence call. And, this is a
means of catharsis for all involved.

Judi, your staff will surely agree with what Leonie wrote, "I would
appreciate it if the first few days were used to discuss and share our
feelings and mourning." NO LEARNING is possible the first week of
school for the classmates of any student killed, whether by car
accident or in such a heroic manner as Elad! Additionally, I thank you
for posting the YNET article and video.

May it truly be a Shavua Tov, with rain and good tidings for all, G-d willing!
