Subject: Literature for 7th grader native speakers

A challenge, teachers all.

I have a very bright native speaker 7th grader who doesn’t like
reading. I want to read something with her, next year, but she is
very negative about it. I have suggested Harry Potter (Ugh), Percy
Jackson (Absolutely not!) , the Vampire series (Stupid). The only
books she luke-warmly likes are a series called English Roses.

I think she likes girly things, but was told by a friend that Little
Women is boring.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

And while we are on the subject of native speakers, can anyone
recommend a good course book for 7th/8th grade native speakers. I
spent the morning at Wiz Kids a couple of days ago, but didn’t find
the type of thing I am looking for.

Again, suggestions would be gratefully received.

Jennifer
