---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Esther Revivo <estherrv@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Yahav/ Benleumi- HAV'HARA Hi! I just spent an hour on the phone to Yahav and Benleumi. (Lucky for me I'm on sick leave with a strep throat and free to check this out.) Here's what I know as of now: 1- Any worker with a pay slip can move his/ her regular account from any bank to Yahav and enjoy the lack of 'amalote' (commission) for every little 'pips' you do ( like take out a printed update of your account where you have to pay a set commission for every line printed.) It used to be a bank only for gov't workers, but no more. So, DO IT! 2- Secondly and most importantly, before having my hubby run off and MOVE our keren hishtlamut to Yahav from Benleumi I called Benleumi again to make sure I wouldn't pay a fine for moving my keren. Anat insisted that ONLY teachers who have had their Shabbaton accounts in their bank for 6 full years (and can technically open and remove their money should they so choose) have the option of moving them to Yahav as I wish to do. (Yahav insists that's baloney so I'm waiting for a supervisor to get back to me.) For, Anat (benleumi lady) read me the 'small print' and this seems to be the case. So, if anyone out there in ETNI land is better than yours truly understanding Ivrit, could you please go to kranoth.org.il and see what's what; that is the site where the info. about WHO can move their keren and who cannot is written. The 2nd nice Ben Leumi lady Anna I later spoke to said that it was Histadrut Hamorim (another reason I'm glad I moved to Irgun besides ofek chadash) was responsible for choosing the particular fund which will now play Russian roulette with our funds. I specifically asked, 'Is there any assurance whatsoever (let's for a minute put aside the possibility of gains,) that my KEREN – 35.000 NIS will be insured and I won't lose money if G-d forbid a new Bernie Madoff wreaks havoc on world markets? Sadly the answer is no. Way to go Histadrut! Since far from wealthy, I called Yahav back again and a supervisor is supposed to call me within the next 2 hrs.to give me his opinion. Without anything in writing I will NOT move my keren as Anat said I will lose 45% of my moolah as if I cashed it in early if I do so. Will keep you posted about the new yahav/ ben leumi tele novella. Don't ask me about Gal and Reshef. I have no idea. Can anyone please tell me WHY they heard that one is better than the other? Additionally, does this transfer also need to be executed before January 1st? Phew! It's bad enough we EFL folks make bubkes (Yiddish for peanuts) without those bureaucrats getting their dirty little fingers onto the little we do earn without our permission. Whoever said life is fair?
