Subject: changes to the HOTS program

Folks, if you teach h.s., go to the official MOE site to see the
newest changes in the HOTS program.
http://cms.education.gov.il/educationcms/units/mazkirut_pedagogit/english/whatsnew/

I don't like the part mentioning that these changes are only for 3
years. We may discover 3 years down the line that the MOE in essence
is NOT going to give the choice between HOTS and classic literature
queries after this period of time passes.
........and of course, the issues of recompense and the unfair (not
standard) evaluation of LOGS were ignored.

However, this change does indeed prove that the hundreds (yes
hundreds) of EFL teachers not enamored by teaching literature (which
we love) with HOTS (which we oppose for sound pedagogical reasons)
have been recognized as an issue that the MOE cannot ignore. So, if
you are anti-HOTS, stand firm!!! I hope that we can KEEP these
changes, make a few others with input from additional experienced
professionals in the field...and "live happily ever after..."

And please, let us not get into an argument about numbers
again....Those in charge of the anti-HOTS forum have received hundreds
of e-mails from folks who choose not to belong to Facebook yet oppose
implementation of the program. I myself know of several religious
teachers who on principle refuse to join Facebook because of what they
feel is inappropriate content and security concerns.

Anyway, I would hope that the option of choosing to answer a HOTS
related question or one on the meaning of a piece of literature
remains after the 3 years presently listed on the site. And, I hope
that future dialogue ensures that those issues not yet addressed will
have their 'day in the sun' so to speak so that we can all get back to
doing what we love without distractions--- teaching!

All the Best-
