Thanks to all who wrote and said they would stay for a meeting. We are about 18 people now, and of course more are welcome to join us. The meeting is planned to take place at Himmelfarb school (Where the ETAI conference is taking place) on Tuesday, July 7th, at 16:30. I have spoken to Nurit Valenci's secretary, and she is supposed to get back to me by Sunday re Nurit's participation. I hope I have succeeded in making clear to her how frustrated we are with the situation, and how important it is that Nurit meet with us. I will update as soon as there is anything new. sara g ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: sara g <saragabai@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, Jun 12, 2009 at 10:01 AM Subject: A meeting with the Irgun? To: ETNI list <etni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Some of us are worried about how Irgun Hamorim is handling the problems of the high school English teachers. 1) How do we make sure that our 12th grade students, who take the oral bagrut exam without having done projects in class, do not fail? The Irgun has not given us an official answer. Some of us are not happy with the unofficial answers that have been given. And if there is a signed agreement between the Irgun and the MOE regarding the projects, from when we started to work according to the NBA - why are we not doing projects? We have not gotten a straight answer from the Irgun if there is an agreement or not. Maybe it was a mistake to connect the new problem of the literature with the old problem of the projects. 2) What will happen in September regarding the new literature program? We haven't taken the course, so will our students fail F and D? Ron Erez has not mentioned the English teachers in the latest letters posted on the Irgun site. So what is going on? Some of us think it might be a good idea to have a Q and A session with Nurit Valensi, the head of the Irgun "Professional Department", to voice our concerns about these issues. The idea is to have it on Tuesday, July 7th, AFTER the ETAI conference is over. A meeting like this can not be part of conference, as ETAI is not supposed to get involved with union affairs and can't be seen as inviting representatives from particular teachers' unions to head sessions at ETAI. But having the meeting right after the conference, and at the same place, would hopefully allow many teachers to attend and make ourselves heard. So - MAIN QUESTION - how many people (Irgun member high school teachers) would stay for this meeting? If enough people are willing, I will try to organize it (inviting Nutrit or some other Irgun representative, and getting a room from the school where ETAI is taking place.) Please reply - to me or to the list - if you are willing to come to this meeting.
