All the official information about HOTS -- and everything else -- is
on the official Ministry - English site -- if you can't connect
through the MOE then you can link through ETNI (right column of menu
tabs)

BUT -- if you have  not implemented HOTS yet because you are against
the program -- then why are you implementing it now?

Teachers who choose to implement out of defeatism -- will be defeated.
On the other hand -- if you think it is a worthwhile program both
for 4 and 5 pointers and you like the choices of literature that will
be tested... , you don't care that for their HEBREW Literature
programs they are not required to do 5 book reports, they are not
required to do a project and they certainly do not have  a HOT log or
are required to regurgitate  the skills or literary terminology on
their bagrut exams to prove they have learned HOTS metacognitively --
go right ahead -- do the program.

Also if it does not aggravate  you that biology and civics  teachers
are getting paid 0.4 hour ( almost a half hour weekly -- if it were
added to the 3.5 for a 5 point class IT IS A WHOLE hour ) for doing a
project -- that is their HOTS.  We have been doing projects for free
for 7 years.  So go right ahead --and if you are young enough , in
another 2 or 3 years there will be something else ADDED.  And by the
way -- the civics teacher also got their entire curriculum DOUBLED!
Two years instead of one year.

However, most schools that I know do not even get the full 5 hours for
English teaching  that the 5 point pupils are  entitled to.  And since
the 4 point pupils are such good language learners they are not even
entitled to the 5 hours... But THAT is another example of the careful
planning and well-thought out  curriculum of the MOE.

Yes, absolutely -- we English teachers should lead the whole Ministry
in teaching critical thinking skills  and we should do it  in a
foreign language, when the pupils are in high school....

but first we should start thinking critically ourselves  FOR OURSELVES

HOTS was created for grades 4-8 in the native language programs, that
is when the kids are really developing thinking skills and study
habits
