Subject: using wikis in the classroom

As I now have greater access to computers at school I would like to
try using a wiki with some of the students. there are some activities
that seem tailored for a wiki.
Yet there are some things I don't understand.
For example - if four pupils have a wiki page to work on some mini
project. Lets say two kids have put up material already and then the
third one logs on and erases the whole thing. what happens then? we
just began a wiki with our staff at the end of the year and one
teacher erased everything every time she logged on. true, kids are
more at home with computer than some teachers but I know kids that
could erase things on purpose. what can I do about that?
And speaking of erasing - if I give each pupil a page for assignments
/tasks specifically for them (it's special ed. Lots of individual
work) can I stop a pupil from erasing other pupil's work or writing
irrelevant things on other pages?

I would appreciate any suggestions!
thanks!
