Hi ETNIANs
Most of you will not see this being on vacation but anyway...
I have just received a notice that Geocities - Yahoo's free web hosting
facilities - will be closing down on October 26th 2009 . We will not be able
to access information on the web which has been uploaded onto these geocities
sites. This no doubt will affect many of us.

For me personally, it is a major blow as almost everything I have ever written
for my own teaching purposes to be shared with others is up there on my site
http://www.geocities.com/jackpillemer
I use it as my own personal "storeroom" and I know that other
teachers/pupils/passersby also pop in from time to time and take what they wish.

I'm not sure if I will have the time or the energy to copy the whole site
(about 200 files) to another host. I do not know if I want to pay to have the
site hosted. I'm not sure yet what this all entails.

I generally created html files and parallel Word doc files so it would be easy
to simply take the material and use as is or adapt. If you have used material
from the site and didn't download it onto your own computer, and wish to use
that material again, I suggest you do so before it disappears.
Here is a list of what you can find. Of course link leads to link and you will
have to surf off the main page to find the actual files.

English teacher as civic educator - I prepared this for a teachers workshop and
never used the material myself on my pupils. On looking at the work I did, I
realise how useful it might be and how relevent it is even though it was based
on elections a while back.

The Lyrics Project - almost always works well

English through Art Project - demanding - high level but worth the effort

Reporting on Community Service "Mehuyavut Ishit" - a New Curriculum Project for
Grade X -.
Setting up English Rooms for Primary Schools in Netanya - A detailed report on
the project

Theoretical paper on the use of e-mail in English teaching.

Dead Poets' Society - using the movie to teach literature

Time for a laugh - funny stuff to use for teaching

Teaching English through Content-based instruction (CBI) focusing on Civics -
see part on Declaration of Israeli Independence

Holocaust Memorial Day Activity for upper grades

MECA - Middle East Children Association- some matrerial and ideas on bringing
Israeli and Palestinian teachers and pupils closer

Boyar High school English site- some of the new material on the school site
may also disappear as it is linked to the Geocities site

Romeo and Juliet - This detailed program for teaching the play is on ETNI so it
will not disappear
