Hi everyone, I wanted to first say that, as someone who is entirely new to the area of teaching English in Israel, I have been very grateful for all of the information on these lists and all of the people here who are obviously very knowledgeable (much more than I am!) After taking some considerations as to how I wanted to pursue trying to get educated on teaching English in Israel (if some of you recall, I posted a note about that several months ago), I have (thankfully) been accepted into the MA program in TESOL in the School for Overseas Students at Tel Aviv University. I will be starting in July. The program, among other things, requires a teaching practicum. My goal is to work with adults and the placements of the program are in the Israeli school system. The program director said she would be willing to work with me if I could find a placement that would be more geared towards what my teaching goals are so I'm starting now to look for ideas on where I might go and how I might find something. I don't know too much about the teaching practice at the moment, but I do know that it takes place during the Fall and Spring semesters (in other words, September to June) of study and it's 2-3 days a week for 12-15 hours a week. I would be expected to work with the teacher in the classroom and the final project would be teaching a series of 3-4 lessons (but of course I would be doing things like observing, working with small groups/one-on-one, etc., before that). Just a note about my background: I have taught college-level English courses in the States (English composition, English literature, business writing, and developmental writing) both face-to-face and online, so I do come with a little experience. I am also fluent in Hebrew and English (obviously). So if anyone has any ideas for me, I would appreciate them. You can email me directly at rmayfreshcomp@xxxxxxxxx . Rotem
