I know that this is a difficult time for all of us who are opposed to the implementation of the literature module. The holidays are over and we have now begun the year in earnest; the unresolved issues surrounding the literature module still face us all. At this time, the Irgun requires us NOT to implement the program nor to attend the training sessions. The MOE expects us to begin this program with our yod students, and most English departments have received letters from our supervisors reminding us that, in fact, the program has begun and our tenth graders will be tested on the HOTS when they are in twelfth grade. I am asking those of you who are members of the Irgun and/or those of you who oppose the program as it stands to hold fast...to remain "strong in will/ To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield." (thanks, Tennyson) There is discussion going on, the Irgun is involved, the educators who continue to oppose the program are still active. Nothing has been finalized yet. Hang in there! If we are fortunate, sanity, logic, and pedagogical standards might actually prevail.
