... Sounds good, but can you kindly tell us what -- in fact -- happened in
cases where a student didn't have a project to present for his oral exam
because the teacher refused to break the sanctions?

I've heard that some "solved" this problem by asking their students to get
hold of a project and use it as their own; however, that is unconscionable
to
many -- IMHO, even worse than the standard "cut and paste" jobs we're not
supposed to accept. (I can't see how a teacher can warn a class against
plagiarism , cheating on tests or any other form of dishonesty if she/he
unabashedly gives such advice.)

The point I'm driving at is that the union often doesn't give us a strong
enough leg to stand on, and instead of doing so it often repeats the
refrain: "You must support the sanctions no matter what!" I find that kind
of "follow the leader blindly" mentality to be rather discouraging and
dispiriting. It may work nicely for the Irgun officials (who can always
say, "Well, what do you expect if you don't maintain our sanctions!"), but
it leaves us in a bind -- and one that we pay for handsomely, at that!

BTW, HOTS is going to be so easy to avoid; it will require an even greater
expenditure of energy on our part to stick to our principles!
