Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)

Joint M.A. Programme – The Department of English and the Faculty of Education,

The University of Haifa

The joint TEFL programme of the Department of English and the Faculty
of Education at the University of Haifa has been recently streamlined,
enhanced, and restructured so as to offer a framework of advanced
studies specifically tailored to the academic and practical needs of
our students.

The programme offers theoretical and research tools with an emphasis
on their application to teaching practices, and is thus an ideal
framework of advanced training for both pedagocial leadership and
advanced research in TEFL.


Preliminary information:

* The duration of the upgraded programme is one calendar year (three
semesters, including a summer semester).

* Students are required to take 9 courses, including 6 required
courses and 3 electives.

* The courses will be held on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons, in
order to accommodate the needs of students who work full-time.

* Students who graduate with distinction can apply for a transfer to a
thesis-track programme and write a thesis in the following year.
