Dear All,
First I would like to apologize for taking my time to write about the
conference. My email was DEAD for 5 days!!! (BTW, not a bad way to take some
time off, except for the hundred odd mails I now have to deal with...)

I join the many other conference participants in congratulating the organizers
on a superb conference. I loved every minute (I attended from Monday evening
till Thursday afternoon). I will not repeat others' comments regarding all the
details, just say that I attended several excellent sessions, touched based
with some old friends, and generally had a wonderful time. I filled in the
online feedback sheets, and urge others to do so as well. This is really
important for both organizers and presenters.

I, like several others who have written to the list, also noticed the sadly low
number of Arab teachers at the conference. I know that ETAI does make an effort
to reach them through the regional conferences, but I also know that they
mostly cannot stay overnight, even in a protected environment like a hotel, so
unless they live very close to Jerusalem I don't know what can be done about
this. Personally I find this to be a sad state of affairs that women in the
21st century living in a Western democratic country are still not allowed to
leave their homes except for very specific purposes under very specific
conditions, but I honestly can't think what we can do about this.

And last but not least, the HOTS debate which I chaired. I did this at the
request of the conference organizers, despite many warnings that it would "get
out of hand" and similar phrases thrown at me by well-meaning colleagues. I
must say I was agreeably surprised by the perfect behaviour of all present, and
had no trouble at all "controlling" the event. In fact, no "control" was really
needed, as everyone followed both the letter and the spirit of the rules. For
this, you all have my sincere thanks and appreciation.

Orly
