Good morning, I agree with Sharon that we have more to take issue with besides this new edict. I choose the word "edict" because that's what it is - an order from above from one office in the MOE. Who was involved in making the decision? Look into it - from what I've been told, no English teachers had input or were consulted. The most important thing is to actually DO SOMETHING. When teachers in my school spoke with Rav Shai Piron about all of their issues with Ofek/Oz L'tmurah, he told them that it's not enough to tell him in person - the MOE has to get letters in numbers to show that people are unhappy. So, pick up your keyboard, write your grievances, and send them in. Take issue with classroom size, no compensation for the projects, no compensation for the hours testing students beyond work hours, or filling out forms in general (When during my workday? How long per form/per meeting with the student? How do I fit in every single student who needs to have these forms submitted if there are no hours in the schoolday to do it?) I'm sure you'll find something. But don't just read this mail, or those of others, nod your head in agreement, press delete, and go back to preparing your next lesson. Make yourself heard.
