Hi All,
This is a very important issue of grammatical awareness. Kids are
initially taught that "s" means plural and then it sticks. They don't
differentiate between the different "s"es. No matter how many times you
tell them that third person, singular in the present simple gets an "s"
they don't remember it. I've found myself dealing with this issue with 5
pointers in the 12th grade.
Now here comes the reason I am writing. Many *hard of hearing *students
don't hear the "s". It is very often, one of the first sounds that
disappears. Now close your eyes and imagine learning English without the
"s" sound......
We are about to embark on a new school year. If you are going to have a
hard of hearing student in your class and you work in the North, please
contact me. If you are in other parts of the country, Naomi Epstein can
advise you.
Yours,
Francine

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he
hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
