Shalom Dear Etniers,
There are ceremonies today at most religious schools. I wonder, though, are
we
doing enough in terms of preserving the memory of the Shoa? Usually, only a
few
pupils are involved in preparing the ceremony - the rest are just passive
observers. Listening to Gunther Volk's informative talk on the subject
of
"Teaching the Holocaust through Anglo-Jewish Drama, Film and Documentaries "
(see also at
http://www.yadvashem.org/education/conference2004/Volk.Gunther.pdf
) I couldn't help thinking that we ought to do things differently in
Israel.
One of the participants at Mr. Volk's presentation, Mrs. Rona Steinfeld,
complained that there was not enough material for younger learners. I asked
her
to send me the list of books she was using and I'm grateful that she did.
