From: "Nehama Barbiru" <nehamab@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: English and the school time table We have been teaching with at least one double lesson a week for some time now. It is good for tests as there is no need to beg for an additional hour at some other subject's expense. Furthermore, you can get on with project work etc and not be cut in mid process by the bell. However, this coming year we are trying to change this policy. We believe that 4 weekly hours on 4 different days will benefit the weaker pupils. They will have 1-2 additional exposures to English during the week. As many of them don't work at home, which is part of the reason for their low ability, we are able to reinforce material learnt in class. As for tests, they can be split into an unseen on one day and everything else on another day. Or if need be, take a lesson from another subject for that specific day. Like Steve, I would like to hear from others before we make any final changes. Nehama
