Dear Etniers:
I tell students they must EITHER indent OR skip a line to indicate a new
paragraph. I prefer having them skip a line - it is clearer, and
the more common method for typed material. It also allows the reader to
see at a glance where new paragraphs begin. If they want to indent and
skip, that's fine too.
It is not acceptable to just begin a new paragraph by beginning a new
line, without either indenting or skipping a line. I deduct for faulty
paragraphing in such cases.
