Hi, This is a response to Veronica Foldes: "Why is there silence, no rumbling or grumbling about the newest suggestion that Ran Erez is working on- 42% more pay for 67% more hours of work?" Recently a rep of the Irgun showed up in our school trying to recruit new members. Naturally she talked about the new contract that is being negotiated and how much better it's going to be than Ofek Hadash. She was very careful not to give any details. I then asked her what the terms of the new contract are going to be - specifically. She said that she couldn't (wouldn't?) tell us. I then asked her how the Irgun was any different from the Histadrut whose member teachers were not consulted, not informed and had no say as to what they were committing to before Yossi Wasserman signed the agreement in their name. Her reply was: "What do you think, the Irgun is a democratic institution? You aren't party to the negotiations!" I am told that there is a very active blog (in Hebrew) where teachers are discussing the issue among themselves and that is also read by other stakeholders (Ministry, media, politicians, union reps). I will try to get the exact address. Those of you who can manage the Hebrew are urged to make your voices heard on this blog and to keep abreast of what's going on. I understand that there's plenty of rumbling and grumbling going on there.
