[etni] remedial books - elementary school ???

a friend of mine is volunteering at an elementary school - and asked me:
"I am teaching three Ethiopian kids (in Kita Dalet and Gimel but aged 11 and
very eager to learn). Do you know
or can you find out for me what would be good text books to study from at
one level above basic that I can easily buy?"
i suggested menachem mashak's "me'evrit l'anglit" - the second or 3rd book.
but i am sure those of you with experience can suggest something else.
she has NO access to computers (not at the school, and the kids don't have
computers at home.)
she also is not a teacher - so a course book that she would have to create
lessons around is not so good.
