dear etniens -

we are starting a group of "native speakers" (or "accelerated
english") in the 9th grade.
i need advice from experienced teachers about

1. a placement test. do you have something good you use, other than
what is on the inspectorate site?

2. a book. they need something they can work on during the regular
english lessons, besides what they do in the accelerated class (which
will either be in the afternoon or during some, but not all, of their
english lessons). any suggestions?

3. has anyone ever taught a play with a group like this? any ideas?

4. a novel - i am worried we won't have time to finish it this year,
if we are only starting now. but still - what books have you read with
9th graders? and planing for next year, 10th graders? (boys and girls,
secular school)

 thanks,
   sara g
