Last year I made CDs and uploaded to students' MP3 players. Regarding someone's question about who should provide the CDs – I believe it should be the student's responsibility. It's not like tapes that we can tape over again and again. Regarding MP3 players: This past summer, I was in charge of providing CDs and uploading to MP3/4 in a college setting for the final. We encountered problems which we hadn't anticipated and created havoc. 1. Students came with MP3/4 players, but forgot the cables for their particular gadget and had to wait for someone else who had brought the right equipment to transfer files. 2. Many students had viruses on their MPs, and the computer with the original files detected the virus and wouldn't allow the file transfer. 3. The MOST problematic issue: Although I had all of the files with track numbers saved in a particular order, when I transferred them to their MPs, the order wasn't maintained, even when I rearranged them on the MPs themselves. It made me realize why my 11th graders had the same problem when I did the same for them for their tests. For some, it was simply because they had other files on there already. After the disastrous and frustrating experience, I looked up the problem and it's well known: Uploaded files don't usually remain in the right order unless you use a certain program or method. If someone knows what it is, please let everyone know. Finally, keep in mind, many students with "הקראת שאלון" also have issues with being organized (or not) and need a method of being reminded to actually bring their MP3 players in advance.
