Hi Chris, would you recommend upgrading from the I-Blue receiver to this one? I am using the Braillenote Apex version. Thanks, Jim

Hi,
Try this receiver, it has the same chip set as the glo but has a
physical on/off switch.

I did as exactly as you said I.e. make sure it would work when disconnecting and turning it on and off. then a morning later, I'd switch it on and checking that it had not come on before by going in to settings. for the past two weeks, it would not come on. Before that, probally for three weeks, it worked solidly. So I can't understand why it just stopped for no reason as I'd use it straight away after it had charged as it was left on charge over night. and I had made sure that the glow was off when charging as I'd check in my settings. So I don't know why it just stopped. So today was the last straw as I was going to use it with a couple of GPS Apps as I mentioned on another list that I was having trouble with it, Peter you would have seen my message last Friday when I was doing some battery testing on another list. That night, I put it on charge again and didn't take it off charge until the end of the evening, and put it on to see if it worked. it did. So I put it in a dr
aw
with it off. I made sure it was off when I left home and when I put it on holding the button down for six seconds, the receiver would not come on again. So it makes me think the receiver was faulty. I will get a refund for now and think again later on if I want one.

Hi Kawal/All,

It took me weeks to understand the behaviour of the Glo. It's really frustrating, but it's such a good receiver that I think it was worth persevering.

When you connect the charging cable, the receiver powers on, even if it was switched off. When you disconnect the cable, it stays on, so you might well turn it off by mistake if you press the power button at that point.

It's also easy for it to power on by accident, so the simplest way to use it seems to be to let it charge, then disconnect the cable, and then power it off, while checking with the iPhone to see whether it's connected or not. The iPhone usually connects automatically, but sometimes loses the connection, in which case you need to connect again in Settings/Bluetooth.

The alternative would be to leave it on charge all the time except when you use it, though that's not great for the battery. Why couldn't they just give it a switch?

I hope that helps some.

Best,

Peter

Hello.

I am returning my Glow GPS receiver to Amazon as it stopped connecting to my I phone 5 S. It would connect if it was on the mains but if it was turned off and not connected to my phone when I came to use it once I had checked it was working, it would not connect to my phone. Has anyone else experienced this? Just interested. I tried connecting it 8 times this month and only had it since December. It was fine for a week or two. Very disappointed with the product.
