It's good to remember that when using iPhone's own receiver, it combines
information also from cell towers and wifi's around you. So, indoors it is
better alternative to use iPhone's own than external GPS-only receiver.

PS. I have external "Dual Universal GPS Receiver" that has been reported to
be good with Apple devices. I can comment here when I have tested it with
my iPhone 5. I have currently tested only that it works fluently with
iPodTouch.
