I am writing for a friend of mine who has a BrailleNote classic running 6.1 Keysoft. She is using the Earthmate serial GPS receiver. She has the previous GPS version because the current one would not run on her system. She can not afford to upgrade to the MPower. She is a cane user and walks fairly slowly, less than 2 miles per hour anyway. She is experiencing extremes of GPS accuracy. She is not in an urban canyon at all. Here is an example of the kind of thing that happens. Going west on a 4 or 5 block walk, the GPS may be totally accurate. Coming back east an hour later, it will say she is at one street and never change. It continues to say she was at a given street until she gets home, 6 blocks away. She had satelites at this time. With satelites, however, she notices quick changes in numbers being tracked-she checks and has 5 and then checks immediately thereafter and has 1 and then 5and then 2 and thenb 1. Cables seem to be working well and the receiver is pointed in the right direction. Can anyone offer suggestions or some help to see if we can get more consistent GPS use? What type of GPS should be selected in the settings? Anything else we can try? Thanks for your help. She rally wants braille GPS and this is such a good option, ifonly we can get it to work.
