I have done a pod cast comparing the 2 GPS solutions, should be on the blind geek zone soon, at this point, I think nearby explorer is the better app for the same reasons you mention. I'm sure the sendero app will get better though. I like android and IOS for different reasons, I don't think one is better than the other, just different.
