Hi claude, if you want a replay file, I have a couple of abbreviated plane flights that I could send you from Oak town to Portland and back. I think the Portland to Oakland flight is a shorter file. i recorded or appended to the file at various points along the way. If you have Oregon and California maps in your unit you can track all the way from start to finish. You can get speed, direction, altitude etc. everything you get when you are using your receiver only it's a replay receiver. It's a cool thing to try.

Best regards, Jim

Wow!! That sounds so cool, but ,I haven't figured out how to record a
replay yet.

One thing to keep in mind if you get disorientated while recording the
replay the route will be created the exact same way the replay goes.
never fear, you can edit a route created from a replay and remove waypoints
in essence removing the disorientation.

Wow!!! So I can take a walk around a route in a big field and some
woods near my dorm, record it, then be able to walk there with no
sighted guiding?? (It has no landmarks at all so sighted assistance is
usually required to keep me from getting lost.) That is great! Now I
just have to figure out how to get from 4.0...

Have a great day,
Alex

The new feature I will be discussing today is the ability to
create a
route from a replay file.

In version 4.0 we introduced the ability to record your GPS
session,
We call it the GPS replay functionality. This is where you can
record
the GPS signals to a file and play them back whenever you wish.
Until
now you could only create an automatic route and hope the replay
went
along that route.
Now you can convert that replay into a route with turn by turn
instructions. If you are walking along the city streets and have
a
map loaded the street names will be used for the turns. If you
are
walking along the beach or woods and there are no streets to
travel
along, no problem as you will still receive turn by turn
instructions
to when you actually made the turns.
You also do not need to set a destination as the system knows the
end
of the replay file is your destination. You can now also add
notes to
a replay file as you are recording it. We call them annotations.
When
playing the replay back the annotation will be announced at the
exact
time it was recorded. The Route created from the replay file
will
use the annotations as waypoints along your route as well.

To create a route from a replay file: from within GPS press R for
the
route commands menu, then press F to create a route from a replay
file.

Hope you have enjoyed this sneak peak into what's to come in
Sendero
GPS version 5.0.
