It's correct on Google Maps which explains why some other GPS systems identify it correctly. When standing near the front of my home,it tells me I am at 2299 but will never give me the correct number which is 2280. It will either do that or give me an address on a small court a couple of hundred feet behind my home. I am glad that I and my Guide Dog know where we actually live or someone else might get a big unwelcome surprise. Gil Johnson ----- Original Message ----- From: Deb Lewis <mailto:deb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, April 06, 2010 2:10 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Question about Addresses I had a GpS many years ago butt did not upgrade it when I went to the MPower. I have a new one now with my Apex and really am amazed with all the changes and the new receivers. One puzzle though is that it does not recognize our home address. I think my prior GPS did and those for taxis and delivery all recognize it from my experiences. Its not a satellites problem. It actually couldn't set it as a destination. And when I got here, it identified it incorrectly which is no surprise given that it said it didn't exist when I entered it as the destination. Maybe I should stop paying property taxes on this address,LOL. So do different systems have different maps? I ask because, as I said, I know that taxi drivers, friends etc. put my address into their destinations and plan routes here. But both of our Sendero units do not recognize the address. Any way to calibrate it or do anything other than set a POI? Will this potentially be improved with the new maps system? My address is totally consistent with other numbering in the area, and the info from the GPS actually isn't reasonable.
