Well, here is a different twist. I have seldome used the route function,
believe it or not.
Set somewhere familiar as a destination and use the getting warmer method to
find it.
The getting warmer method is what I use every day on the walking path.
A bit harder but I am such a stick-in-the mud that I think I would have a
hard time following directions from a machine.
I think this probably stems from my experiences with the old Atlas Speaks
system on the laptop where we celebrated if we got 5 satellites good poor or
fair and I could never follow a route because the receiver would hit blind
spots and simply quit working.

Thanks Andy for that one. Having had a look at virtual mode this afternoon and played with a few routes etc., I'm ready to take some gentle exercise. (For me it's limited a little, unfortunately, so I want to learn as much as I can from a sitting down position. . . ..) I'm sure I'm still going to find plenty of benefits.

Hi Carol,
I would suggest that you start with learning how to use the device in real time, i. e. while walking, etc. Focus on how to find out where you are, and what's around you. You can get into route creation, and things like that later. Andy

Hi all,
I'm pretty ecstatic today having installed my new "toy" (travel tool, etc., etc) and can't wait to get started with the real thing! (I'm currently just waiting for my receiver to arrive.) Meanwhile I'm reading the manual, finding myself jumping around it a bit and getting a little confused with various modes and of course wanting to run, run, run when I know I have to work through systematically. Any advice on what I should focus on and achieve first, once I have the receiver up and running, would be most welcome.
Thanks!
