One thing about accuracy reports is that the GPS software cannot distinguish
between good and poor satellite signals. We may know that 5 satellites are
visible but perhaps 2 out of those 5 are signals bouncing off a building.
This is why accuracy indications are relative estimations and far from
precise.
The two GNSS receivers discussed on this list definitely work with the
iPhone. It may be that these devices have to be on the approved Apple list
like many other Bluetooth devices.

I'm not sure what protocol the iphone uses, but none of my bluetooth
receivers work with it, though they work with android and they also worked
with my symbian phones. This makes me believe that Apple is doing something
nonstandard. For some reason, my galaxy s 3 running cyanogen 11 can never
get a GPS fix with the built in receiver, not sure why, but it works great
with the bluetooth receivers. Also, the nexus 4 gets a fix, but nearby
explorer never reports an accuracy below
40 feet. With the bluetooth receivers, it reports around 9 or 10 feet which
is probably as good as a receiver will get. On phones such as my galaxy s 4,
I can also get an accuracy report of the same distance.
