Hi, Kevin and all who have been trying to help me with this, I simply could not get my head around this whole concept. But I think I've got it. Well, almost. I finally broke down and called Sendero for help. Chris was his usual patient helpful self even though I think he could not understand what my problem was. Well, that's OK, because I don't know what my problem was either! I made a folder. In that folder, I put all the POIs and maps for the states between here and there. And, I've even created one of the routes. I did find it odd that the gps told me it was going to be a very long route, did I truly want to create it? (It was only about 250 miles!) However, it seems that in my interim mistakes, I also have all that stuff floating around loose in the maps folder. Can I delete those entries with the specific state names in them...that is, anything that says Pennsylvania can go, both POIs and maps, because they now all reside in the "Alice in the Northeast" folder? And the same states and POIs still reside in their regions, right? So I basically now have two copies on the cf card of the same maps, right? Massachusetts (my home state) will remain floating around in the maps folder somewhere, right? How can I see everything in that folder? Do I need the file manager? Do I look in directory? And what are the subdirectoryies I keep hearing about when trying to get the gps to point to the right folder? Thanks, everybody. It took a while, but I think I've got this process sorted out at least enough to get the route created... Road trip! What does matter is whatever maps and POIs you are trying to have loaded, the GPS needs to know where they are through O for GPS Options and M for Map and POI Directory. You need to put the contents of each of those separate folders into the maps folder itself. Not separate folders inside the maps folder. there should only be files in the maps folder. -- Let a smile be your lantern of joy -- robert Doc Wright http://www.wrightplaceinc.net msn godfearer15@xxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: alice dampman To: gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, June 09, 2009 5:26 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: from Mass to VA But all the maps are already on the cf card that I use with the gps. I don't have to copy them onto the card because they're already there, right? I did get some message about directory something or other, and I think I just hit enter on it, which may have been a mistake. I did not understand what it was telling me. Each region is in a separate folder already on the card. That's what I can't figure out...how to get more than one region to be in the available maps folder. What I can't figure out how to do is open or download or whatever I have to do to those maps to make the gps able to see them. They're all there on the cf card, but how do I get them to be recognized? And how do I get multiple things to be recognized so that a route that covers multiple states can be followed? Thanks.
