The question has been raised why we are mentioning People Finder on a GPS list. When we formed this list 13 years ago, there was only one GPS on a laptop. Things have evolved since then with multiple GPS systems. In fact, the positioning on an iPhone is only partially done with GPS so if one wanted to be picky, we might wonder why the iPhone is mentioned on this list. Years ago, I coined the term Location Information. It doesn't really matter if that location information is done with GPS or a sighted guide, it is all valuable to blind folks getting around independently. You are quite welcome to discuss all techniques for navigating independently on this list. Finding moving objects is just as important as finding stationary ones like buildings and POIS. I want to know what bus is approaching or passing me by. I would also like to know which people are in my vicinity, especially if they are friends or colleagues. This is all critical location information.
