While I see the appeal of having maps locally, if I remember right the
GPS maps at least for the BrailleNote take up like 2 GB of space.
Personally I don't want Seeing Eye maps taking up that much space on my
phone since I only have a 16 gb phone to begin with. Personally I use
Seeing Eye more when I travel than around here, and if I only download
my state's map then whenever I travel to another state I have to
remember to download that app.

Well, the main thing as of now is turn by turn direction within the app. I
cannot speak to the new name your own landmark/poi yet till the new update is
out for the public and I get it and try it out. So to me the big advantage is
turn by turn within the app so far. Now if the Seeing Eye was to offer the
ability to download the maps like Navigant that would be a plus as well. Then
you would not have to use data.

What do you see as the advantage of Seeing Eye over BlindSquare?

Well, I am glad and hope they work like I think they will as I live way out
in the country and what I navigate by mostly is landmarks/POI that I create
and then create a rout to them. If it does work like I want it to then SE
(Seeing Eye will become my main GPS and BSQ (Blind Square ) will become my
2nd and then Navigant 3rd and Maps my 4th.

I'm glad the points of interest that we can add will be coming. I always
thought this feature would be necessary to be able to go to a bus stop you're
not real familiar with because you might make it to the destination with
directions from the app, if the stop is midblock, knowing which poll to wait
at could be difficult if there aren't other landmarks near the bus stop. It
seems that there are more of these stops in my area that aren't at a street
corner, and I've been afraid of not being able to find them when it comes
time to get the bus back towards home.

Ok, the new Seeing eye 2.0 is in the app store? I assume the one with the
personal landmarks/POI's ? This is great someone let me know please when it
is released from the app store so I can do the one month trial version and if
I like it will get the full paid version for 299 bucks I think it is.

Listers,

We have submitted the apps to Apple. If all goes smoothly, the release could
happen in a week or so. They can reject for small reasons so cross our
fingers that this does not happen.

I will keep you posted. The final step is when they alert us that the app is
pending. At that point, it will be out in a day. I can't wait to have you try
out the new User POI recording. It is really fun and useful.
