1.  change the category to user
2.  you can also go into the poi editor by pressing E then 
You can scroll up and down the list and set the user pois as your
destination or virtual positions space with D and Space with V
respectfully.

I think you are talking about lookaround mode.
You can turn that off by pressing space with M then L.

Yes, it will loose it's bluetooth connection if the battery does go
flat.
All you need to do is turn on the receiver and search for devices,
pare and activate your receiver.
