i used breezy
9-12 secs with default ubuntu desktop or with initng tool
with initng tool, you have to modify your menu.lst for enabling it..try

and just so you know, theres something called parallel startup or
something, came about in digg.com sometime back, that maybe worth a look..

@->any gentoo users: in /etc/conf.d/rc.conf, does setting
RC_PARALLEL_STARTUP="YES" help??..
