Is this a bug in fedora core 5?
If its a x86_64 system, the kudzu issue is apparently related to video.

It is not an x86_64 system. It is an 32 bit system. It was a fresh install.
Is is ok to run linux having kudzu and haldaemon off?
Turning off kudzu is fine if the system doesnt undergo hardware changes.
Hal daemon is required for many of desktop application especially the
GNOME ones. You might want to try updating your apps by running yum
update and otherwise report this issue in http://bugzilla.redhat.com
So, haldaemon is not required by any crucial services like network or
iptables, right?
I meant to ask whether it won't interfere with vital system programs like
selinux or httpd.
