HI,
I recently installed FC5 from the linuxforyou DVD. The installation went
smooth, but when it tried to boot for the first time, it froze when it tried
to "Checking for new hardware". Then I restarted in single mode and did
"chkconfig kudzu off" and then "init 3". This time it continued to load, but
and got freezed when loading haldaemon. I can hear a single beep when it is
freezing in haldaemon or when it checking for hardware changes. I had to
"chkconfig haldaemon off" in single mode. Now it is working fine. I have no
probs in browsing the net or listening to songs. I never had this problem
when I was working with Fedora core 4 or FC2.
My question is:
Is this a bug in fedora core 5?
Is is ok to run linux having kudzu and haldaemon off?
The computer has no hardware issues, as it is a dual boot with Windows XP
and I have no probs in XP.
