[Ilugc] Re: FossConf brochure [was new logo suggestion by Niyam]

please polish this up. And it is not necessary that Niyam does
everything. Once the logo is out and the colours known, everyone can
make posters, brochures, banners etc.
I could not update the contents of the brochure wiki, tried twice and
on both occassions, evan after waiting for ~05 minutes, no updates.
Hence, am posting my changes below. Would someone, kindly update the
wiki accordingly.

= FossConf Chennai feb08 =
The Indian Linux Users Group, Chennai Chapter (ILUGC), in association
with NRC-FOSS, Chennai takes great pleasure in inviting you to
participate in the FossConf to be held at MIT, Chromepet, Chennai from
noon on 01 Feb, 2008 to noon on 03 Feb, 2008.
== THE ORGANISERS ==
ILUGC is one of the oldest lugs in the country and has been
continously active since it was founded. It keeps a low profile and
specialises in grass roots work all around TamilNadu (and in the
neighbouring states too). Under it's guidance, many lugs are active in
colleges and towns all around TamilNadu. At the same time, Chennai LUG
members are in the forefront of the FOSS movement both at the national
and international level.
NRC-FOSS, a Central Government Project, funded by the DIT and jointly
run by CDAC and AU-KBC Research Centre, Chennai, for the past two and
half years has been actively promoting FOSS in the academic domain.
It's main focus has been getting FOSS introduced into the curriculum
of Engineering Colleges in the country. Also, apart from encouraging
student projects in FOSS, it has been active in encouraging academia
to release it's work under FOSS/Creative Commons licenses. AU-KBC
Research Centre, MIT, Chennai has strengths in NLP, Bio-informatics,
Wireless, Cryptography and embedded computing, much of which utilizes
FOSS tools and has released some of this research material as FOSS.
== SCOPE ==
The conference will focus on both, new users / contributors to FOSS.
It will help improve their skills and give them experience in speaking
and presenting on their subject.
* For college lecturers/professors: Training in teaching and
presentation of FOSS subjects
* For Government employeess: Orientation on how to more effectively
use their GNU/Linux and FOSS based systems
* For students: Guidance in developing FOSS projects
* For systems administrators: Orientation in setting up secure,
efficient servers and networks
* For academic researchers: a new arena to present your research and
contribute back to the people who gave you your FOSS research tools
* For FOSS developers: a chance to share your knowledge with the new
generation and to interact with your friends around the country
== Programs ==
* Talks - 45 minutes each on every conceivable foss related topic
* Mini talks - 10 minutes each, on some aspect of foss
* Tutorials - upto 2 hours of intense instruction on a particular subject
* Sprints - groups of people working to achieve some target - coding,
translation, documentation, bug-fixing ...
* Formal Academic presentations - on research done using foss tools
from the academic community
* Marathadi talks: informal presentations and discussions under the
trees in the campus
* Demos: Installation of distros, graphics, games, embedded linux products
* Student projects: Presentations on student projects using foss.
Ideas for further projects
* Cultural competitions: Art, poetry, songs, skits
