Hi Thirumalai,
I got the drivers from "
http://sourceforge.net/projects/zyxel630-11". The
one dated 08/04, "amedyn". I am running RH 9.0 and I needed an updated PPP
which supported PPoA, ppp-2.4.0-2 from samba.org I think. I chose to upgrade
to 2.6.9 for no reason other than just trying it out. When compiling the
drivers, you can choose to ignore the error with the "bridge" mode for
this modem.
There is a start script and a stop script. The actual connection takes
longer than in Windows. The startup script tries to load firmware and takes
time sensing the ADSL line. I guess in Windows the firmware is loaded on boot
and likewise with the ADSL line. The start script establishes the ppp
connection also. The stop does not always cleanly unload the driver.
So if you stop and try to start again, you might have trouble when the
firmware is loaded again. Unplug and replug the modem to fix the
problem (is this the "stall" problem that for which you have
the workaround below?).
I am scratching my head to recall what else? It will come back to me.
I had tried this a year back with the 10/29/2003 release and had given up
cursing Touchtel for the choice of modem.
Would be glad to help more.
Karthi
