[Ilugc] Installation Issue - Fedora Core 2 on External HDD

7. My existing of the Laptop with 40 GB only showed. This HDD contains Win
XP Professional Dual Boot with Fedora Core 2.
8. Out of 40 GB, 6 GB is allocated for Fedora Core 2.
9. If I boot into my Fedora Core 2 using the Grub option, then in the System
Information - Hard Disks I find the USB Drive detected as follows:
sad, sda1, sda2, sda3, and rest of the unallocated space of 80 GB.
Purpose:
I want to remove the Fedora Core 2 Installation from Laptop and dedicate one
separate HDD for the Fedora Core 2. Started of doing this when was not able
to compile the Kernel due to insufficient space in my Laptop HDD.
The simplest option is to just forget about the external hard disk, and
use more space from the internal 40 GB hard disk for the existing Fedora
install. You can either completely blow away the Windows XP partition, or
resize it using FIPS (if you're using a FAT partition for XP). Add
an additional Linux partition with fdisk, format it using mkfs and make
it mountable using fstab - and you're home free.
The second option is to use the remaining space on the USB hard drive
for an additional, mountable, Linux filesystem for a sub-directory, say
/home/build or something. This is not going to be suitable for any
I/O intensive work, like kernel rebuilding, because it's sitting on
USB-attached storage. It's not worth trying to use it as a root filesystem
either (in case you want to put the entire distro on it).
You don't need to re-install Fedora for either of these options. (In
general, it's never necessary to re-install a Linux distro from scratch.
If you think you need to do that, you probably don't understand what you
want to do.)
