Still pretty decent!  On an average gross sal is around 50-60% of CTC

Probably includes ESOPs, perf-linked bonus etc. too. 9l for a fresher
is unbelievable anywhere in India (unless your are from an IIM). :) In
tech, for non-IIT types, I think the norm would be more like 3.6-6
range depending on the company/location.
