before involving the vendors. Do you know any such test tools that are
available freely.

What you need to do is call 3 people ;
1) Call HP
2) Call Red Hat
3) Call Oracle.
All three of them have benchmarking tools and methodologies that I am
sure they will be quite happy to work with you on.
