Dear Anandh,
Before asking this kind of questions , u should specify about your
mail server either it is Sendmail or Qmail. In send mail Its not a easy task to
configure your mailserver to contact two different networks.
Instead of Qmail there is easy to configure to do like this.I hope u r using
Qmail.Your setup is correct. but in outlook express u hav to change the sever
type as IMAP.you can try this. it is as fast as smtp and pop3. please try this
and send me the result.

Thank You Sir. Let me explain what I did, my network
is 172.30.1.0
the gateway server is assigned with 172.30.1.1, the
mail server has a LAN
interface and I assigned 172.30.1.2 to it. This is my
setup.
On my clients, Outlook I changed the SMTP (sending)
ip to
172.30.1.2, this worked, but for POP3 (receiving)
172.30.1.2 IP didn't
worked. So I have to change the POP3 IP back to the
global IP. So what
happens is, sending mails are fast, but receiving
mails is slow as it has to
travel the 2 networks (Touchtel --> VSNL).
Solutions plz!

Hi anand ,
2 ways u can do that
if u have public ip to the box then u can assign a
virutal ip (private
ip) office lan segment . ask everybody to use the ip
to download
mails.
