I just want to share what happened in mepco this weekend,
The Computer Society of India of Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi
organized a two-day workshop, "Innovate 09", on Free/Open Source Softwares
on February 21 (Saturday) and February 22 (Sunday), 2009 in the college
premises. Mr. S.Baskar, CEO of LinuXpert Systems, Chennai and Mr. Ravi Jaya,
free-lance trainer conducted this training programme. This event recorded a
total of 382 participants comprising of students from various colleges in
the vicinity of Mepco schlenk Engineering college.

Before the commencement of workshop, we had installed Fedora-10 distribution
in four labs comprising of nearly 140 machines using
the FOSS-Lab Server provided by LinuXpert Systems.
On day one, around 345 students attended the session which dealt with the
introduction and basics to the Linux Operating System like Linux
installation, Introduction to FOSS, Basic Linux commands, Introduction to
LAMP/MySQL, Web Development with PHP and Apache HTTPD Web Server in Linux.
On day two, around 275 students participated in the session which included
Shell Scripting, PERL Programming, Python scripting, Virtualization and
MySQL Administration using PHPMyAdmin.
The workshop accomplished the aim of providing a spark of knowledge about
FOSS into the minds of the students...
